Latest Purchase

I heart aritzia.  I'm absolutely obsessed with the Mackage leather jacket I bought today.  The fit is slim and the leather is so soft.  I put it together with a Wilfred bustier and a Wilfred leopard scarf.

Shedd Aquarium

Last Monday, my friend Haili and I decided to go to the Shedd aquarium.  I was a little kid again as soon as I walked through the doors.  The ocean is beautiful and so full of life!  Of course, I instantly started relating the ocean animals and their habitats to fashion and art.  I just couldn't help myself.  Here are some pictures I took using my phone.

I loved these jelly fish!  The way they changed from bright neon blue, to green, to purple was amazing.  The way they floated and moved in the water reminded me much of my favorite fabrics, chiffon and silk.  The colors left me dreaming about all the fun spring colors I'm ready to wear.

And then the Penguins!  Happy feet.

Aritzia

Today, I tried on the Wilfred jumpsuit that you see above and to your very right.  The fit is so flattering and I think the back is the best part of it! The straps are different sizes to form a razor back that displays almost your whole back.  Nothing is sexier to me than a low back line, or this print.

Jeweled Anemone.  If I were a fish, I would live here.

Dolce Vita, Bobbie booties
Dolce Vita- Pascal wedges

You're the boss, applesauce.

Fashion Icon:  Edie Sedgwick

Re-watching Factory Girl.  I forgot how much I loved this movie.  Inspires me so much- the art and fashion.  Edie Sedgwick is a STAR.  She was a born American socialite, actress, muse to Andy Warhol.  She created her own unique style, ruling the fashion scene in the 60s.  She makes dysfunctional and troubled...look glamorous and chic.  She brought sexy and edgy to high class society.  Edie + Andy Warhol + Bob Dylan.  I suggest watching this movie if you haven't already.

Signature look:  Big earrings, dark eyes, beauty mark, never wore the same thing twice.

Edie and Warhol.

Adrian Lux - Teenage Crime (Axwell Remix)

Whats in: Your own unique take on style. Don't follow the rules.. just go with it.

SPRING FEVER:  Taking Trends and making them your own is what it's all about.

NEONS
mix and match bold, bright saturated colors.... colorblock... mix colors you wouldn't normally.. you'll be surprised.

WHITE OUT
delicate and refreshing... not daring enough to try neons?.. DO WHITE.  white will make just the same amount of impact if worn correctly.  white.. color of renewal...purity.. spring season is in need.

FLORAL
mix florals and colors in unconventional way.. really like floral prints mixed with super bright colors and also with other contrasting prints such as animal, stripes, and different fabrics.  explore your mind and style.  it works.

70s
vintage meets modern.. sex it up.. using the 70s as the base and put a spin on it... think embellishments,  accessories, colors, anything and jazz it up to be your own look.

TUTTI FRUITTI
Oranges, the crisp bite of an apple, the color of bananas, the shape of a pineapple, the color of a sliced kiwi...  All very refreshing and uplifting ways to break into your spring attire.  Whatever your inspiration is.. go with it.. you'll be a breath of fresh Spring air to everyone around you.  Tropicana is where its at..whether in prints.. vibrant colors or just indulging in them.. go for it!

SHOES
time to break out the colors....or the nudes.  for me i'm an extremist in shoes this season.. either ALL OUT color pop.. or nude, neutral tones.  works for me.. maybe it will for you too.  Lots of shoe selection right below.

Balmain Fall 2011 RTW

Balmain's Christophe Decarnin (creative director since 2005) fails to make appearance at show.  Rumors circulate from mental hospitalization to exhaustion.  Despite questions concerning Decarnin, the show delivered the goods.  It was amazing- 70s meet glam rock.  The embellishments, crystals, edginess, jumpsuits- LOVE.  View complete Fall 2011 RTW collection here.

Lady Gaga strutting the runway for Thierry Mugler... I LOVE IT.

The jaw dropping show of Thierry Mugler's line is my latest obsession.  The show envisioned by Mugler's creative director, Nicola Formichetti, is already predicted to be the top highlight of Paris Fashion week (ignoring Galliano scadal) .  The revolutionary design of the clothing is modern, daring and extremely  sexy with its precise structure and cut outs.  Lady Gaga makes an appearance from the catwalk's realm of darkness and is casually smoking a cigarette.  She debuted her latest single "Goverment Hooker", while parading around as she pleased.  Lady Gaga, Nicola Formichetti, Mugler womenswear -  enough said.

Paris Fashion Week Fall 2011 Schedule

Paris Fashion week for womenswear kicked off last Tuesday.  Again, I will be watching from The Front Row aka behind my Mac.  I dream of the day when I actually get to grace fashion week with my live appearance...  Anyhow, this is the schedule (for all 9 days):  Paris Fashion Week Fall/ Winter 2011

Let's talk Oscars

The 83rd annual Academy Awards, put on by the American Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, considered to be the biggest night in Hollywood (film and fashion), was in full swing last Sunday.  Aside from wanting to stare at James Franco’s lovely face all night, nothing excited me more than to see what everyone was wearing!  Immediately after watching all my favorite designers from The Front Row during fashion week (aka behind my Mac in PJ's), I was ever so eager to see what new styles the A-list celebrities would be sashaying in on the red carpet.   My pre- Oscars preparation included a trip to the salon where I got my hair cut and styled.  Why? I’m not sure, but I think subconsciously I wanted to feel better about my appearance as I watched the flawless stars arrive in their custom designed dresses, fitted to perfection.  Some of my favorite looks included:

Gwyneth Paltrow, in Calvin Klein Collection, with Louis Vuitton jewels

Cate Blanchett, in Givenchy Haute Couture, with Van Cleef & Arpels jewels

Mila Kunis, in Elie Saab Couture, with Neil Lane jewels

Michelle Williams, in Chanel Haute Couture, with Harry Winston jewels

Scarlett Johansson, in Dolce & Gabbana,  with Anna Hu jewels

Pregnant Natalie Portman, in Rodarte, with Tiffany & Co. jewels and Jimmy Choo Shoes
All above pictures are from Harper's Bazaar
I love Natalie and was so happy she won Best Actress, starring in The Black Swan.  The Black Swan definitely captures a spot on my top movie favorites.

Besides the amazing fashion, the show itself, was......a little awkward.  Awkward is honestly the first word that comes to mind.  My love for James and Anne wasn't enough for me to overlook the forced jokes and not- so-hott chemistry between the two.  James looked very disconnected and some even suggested fresh off the maryjane (wouldn't you be too.. in front of a million viewers?).  Anne tried desperately pick up the slack by doing some singing jig and being overly enthusiastic in comparison to glassy- eyed James.  Also, they thought it'd be a good Idea for James to dress is drag.  I can see the humor, but again... it was just awkward and a little unsettling.

I get the whole trying to appeal to younger audiences, but I think they should have went a more classic route and had a comedian host.  I still watched it..

On a lighter note, I too, also picked out a dress to wear to the Oscars, if somehow I miraculously had a last minute invite..

I love, love, love this gown that demonstrates Versace's take on embellishment with feathers.

Oh and last minute shout- out to Jennifer Hudson for looking better than ever on the red carpet!!

Making an entrance.

Hello, world.  Today marks my first official day as an online blogger.  I don’t really know my way around the blogosphere, but I feel inclined to share my thoughts aloud.  I figure I’ll get the hang of this soon.  First things first…main things that are of interest to me include:  FASHION, media, photography (I'm still trying to figure out what dSLR I'm getting, which will hopefully be soon), design, music, yummy food, social events, traveling, Europe, silly things, and my pet fish (Lucci).  I’m a very passionate person in general (especially to all of the above), and I try to get along with a little bit of humor.  I started this blog because I wanted a place for my thoughts to hang out with no boundaries.  I will post whatever comes to mind.
